My Hometown Glory
Quisqueya named it our ancestors;
Caribbean amber your nom de plume
Their blood scatters our terrain; sick authors
Coast full of spice, sugar and sweet perfume
A blend of tribes, slaves and bourgeois
Palm trees, parrots, and tasty pabulum
Lively trades; oh! Avoirdupois
Sweet enjoyment in my latibulum
Pain and Illness brought the abductor
Melodies and merengues lifting heaps
Raping our mangoes destroying honor
Perico ripiao, bachata souls leaps
Veneration of a ruler encroached;
While the music, No! Suddenly stops
Brava :D
